The U.S. intelligence warned Trump about assassination threats from Iran

EFE - Former President Donald Trump's campaign reported on Tuesday that U.S. intelligence officials have warned the Republican candidate "about real and specific threats from Iran aimed at assassinating him."

The statement, signed by Steven Cheung, the campaign's communications director, claims that this is an effort to "destabilize and sow chaos in the United States" and that intelligence officials have identified these "ongoing and coordinated" attacks intensifying in recent months.

They also stated that law enforcement officials "are working to ensure that President Trump is protected and that the elections remain free from interference."

The announcement comes days after the FBI revealed that Iranian hackers had sent emails with stolen material from Trump's team to the Democratic campaign.

Back in August, U.S. intelligence agencies had already reported that Iran had increased its attempts to intervene in the country's presidential elections.

In July, Iran denied accusations of attempting to assassinate Trump after the former president survived an attempted assassination at a rally in Pennsylvania.

On September 15, the White House hopeful again faced an assassination attempt at a golf course in Florida, with 58-year-old Ryan Routh being accused of the crime.
