After being involved in so many controversies, Memphis Grizzlies player Ja Morant finally receives good news and that is that this Monday a Tennessee judge ruled in favor of the NBA player in the case for hitting a minor.

The episode occurred last July 2022 when Ja Morant hit a then 17-year-old boy in his own home. The Grizzlies player claimed that the hit was in self-defense and the judge ruled in favor of Morant in the accusation.

Morant and his attorneys' version of events argues that the player acted in self-defense when he hit Joshua Holloway, 17 at the time, after Holloway hit Morant in the chin with a basketball.

In Monday's filing, Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Carol Chumney ruled that Morant “enjoys a presumption of civil immunity” under the state of Tennessee's self-defense immunity statute.

On the other hand, the plaintiff's lawyer argued that "we are disappointed and will continue to take the necessary measures to protect and defend Joshua," Rebecca Adelman, Holloway's lawyer, told ESPN.

The events that led Ja Morant to hit Joshua Halloway
The event took place at a basketball game in the yard of Ja Morant's house in Tennessee. Where Joshua Halloway, reportedly frustrated at losing, threw the ball hard at Morant on a serve, hitting him in the face. Furthermore, Morant stated that Halloway took a step forward to confront him.

Faced with this threatening situation in his own home, Morant proceeded to hit Joshua in the jaw. Morant's friend Davonte Pack also hit Holloway, an act for which Pack was later arrested for misdemeanor battery. The charge against Pack was later dismissed.

Morant has been involved in several legal problems in recent years. The most notorious, and for which he had a long suspension in the NBA, was for recording himself carrying a firearm and uploading it to social networks.
