Shooting in Ohio leaves one person dead and at least 24 injured

A shooting that occurred early this Sunday in Ohio left one person dead and at least 24 injured, confirmed the mayor of the city of Akron, Shammas Malik.

According to the mayor and local police, several officers responded to an intersection in the city, located about 40 miles south of Cleveland, shortly after midnight after receiving several emergency calls related to shots fired in the area.

Almost at the same time that the troops arrived at the scene, where they found a firearm and several bullet casings, the authorities received notices from local hospitals that reported the admission of people with gunshot wounds.

According to local police, a total of 25 people were shot with a firearm, among them one death was reported. According to NBC News, the deceased is a 27-year-old man.

Spokespersons for the Summa Health System health center in Akron indicated that 15 people arrived at this hospital center, one of them already deceased and another in critical condition.

The authorities, who have an ongoing investigation, have not reported on the arrest of any suspect or the possible motivations for the incident, and have asked anyone who may have relevant information to contact them.

During May, at least two more shootings were reported in the United States. One happened during a party in Alabama, in which 12 people were injured and three dead.

Another occurred in Los Angeles, California, in this attack there were seven people injured.
