Elementary teacher accused of sexually abusing 11-year-old student in Wisconsin

A 24-year-old teacher from Wisconsin was arrested Wednesday on charges of allegedly having inappropriate interactions with one of her fifth-grade students, just three months before her wedding, the New York Post reported.

Madison Bergmann's alleged inappropriate behavior toward the 11-year-old boy came to light when the student's mother overheard her son talking on the phone with the teacher, CBS News Minnesota reported.

The parents allegedly discovered text messages exchanged between the teacher and her son, and the boy's father confronted River Crest Elementary School with printouts of those conversations.

In the text messages found by the parents, there were some where Bergmann talked about meetings inside the classroom, during mealtime or after school.

According to the American newspaper, the woman is also accused of telling the boy that she liked him to touch her and “kiss” her.

Inside the accused's bag, a folder with the student's name was found with several handwritten notes describing when she kissed him, the investigation indicates.

"One of my cousins is in fifth grade and I can't imagine a man talking to her the way we talk. I know we have a special relationship and I love you more than anyone in the world, but I have to be the adult here and stop," he wrote. Bergmann in one of the notes.

The authorities detail that when the teacher was questioned about the messages she exchanged with the student, she invoked her right to be represented by a lawyer.

Since that time, the defendant was placed on administrative leave and is now prohibited from having any contact with students, parents or district staff, the Hudson School District reported.

"Learning about a school staff member and her alleged inappropriate conduct that violates trust is deeply troubling to all of us," the report states.

According to what was shared on social media by the accused teacher, she and her longtime partner were going to get married in July, three months after her arrest.

Bergmann will face justice for the charge of first-degree child sexual assault, but she will be released after covering the $25,000 bail imposed by the supervisory judge.
