Several high-ranking members of the Republican Party on the island had announced before the assembly that they do not support Trump.

This Sunday it was also reported that a group of radical Republicans related to former President Donald Trump, led by far-right Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, threatened to push for the impeachment of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, after the approval of new funds. for Ukraine.

“Mike Johnson's presidency is over. He needs to do the right thing: resign and allow us to move forward in a controlled process or else he will be removed,” the congresswoman noted in an interview on Fox News.

In late March, Greene introduced a motion to impeach Johnson, although she has not yet activated the mechanism to put it to a vote.
