Donald Trump delivers pizzas to New York firefighters

Former President Donald Trump held a third campaign event in New York City, but this time he arrived with pizzas at the fire station on 53rd Street, near Third Avenue.

The Republican had visited the headquarters of Engine Co. 8, Ladder Co. 2, of the Fire Department (FDNY) in Midtown in 2021 on the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attack.

This time, around 5:15 p.m. The former president moved from the courthouse in Lower Manhattan, but previously his team delivered eight pizzas and he arrived with two more.

In the midst of an intense security device, a coordination of the NYPD with the Secret Service, the former president arrived without making statements to the press and greeted the firefighters, who were excited and took photographs with him.

No FDNY official gave a message to the media at the event attended by this newspaper, but in a statement spokesman Jim Long said he recalled that Trump had visited that station.

“We appreciate anyone who supports our members in the FDNY, regardless of their political affiliation,” the statement said.

Long added that the station has had visits from other presidents and figures running for other political positions.

At the event there was no official endorsement from the FDNY to the campaign of former President Trump, who is the virtual candidate of the Republican Party, because he has already added the corresponding votes in his party, although his confirmation is pending at the National Convention in July.

On April 17, the former president visited the Sanaa winery, a victim of constant robberies and attacks in Upper Manhattan.

In 2022, Dominican José Alba was arrested and charged with murder, after fatally stabbing an assailant in self-defense. During his visit, Trump suggested that the winemakers be armed.

On April 25, Trump met with construction workers at a real estate development at 48th Street and Park Avenue, where he claimed he had the workers' support.
