Trump suggests: “Monitor women's pregnancies to see if they have had abortions”

In two interviews with Time magazine, former US President Donald Trump shared his plans for an eventual second presidency, if he wins the elections next November.

One of the most controversial points of these interviews was Trump's position on abortion, a hot topic in the United States after the end of Roe v Wade.

In them, Trump suggested that states could “monitor women's pregnancies to see if they have had abortions,” sparking a national debate about the limits of state power in this area.

Trump's statements sparked immediate reactions, including criticism from Democratic President Joe Biden, who accused him of lacking trust in women. Trump, for his part, defended the idea that the states should determine abortion restrictions, showing himself in favor of the diversity of approaches between the different states.

Eric Cortellessa, who interviewed Trump, summarized the former president's approach as that of an "imperial presidency."

Trump outlined plans for a massive deportation operation, the construction of immigration detention camps and the deployment of the army to the border and the interior of the country, as well as the exercise of absolute control over the executive branch, including the possibility of firing to federal prosecutors who do not comply with their orders.

In addition, Trump hinted at the possibility of pardoning his supporters accused of attacking the Capitol and threatened not to support international allies if he believes they do not pay enough for his own defense.

Likewise, he did not rule out the possibility of violence after the November elections if he does not win, reflecting a polarized and tense political climate in the United States.
